Provide Meals for Shelter Families

As we navigate the first six months of 2025, we are excited to share a new way to serve the families in our temporary shelter program. Your generosity of time and resources makes this traumatic time much more bearable for them, and there is little that makes as big a difference as meals.

Meals, especially dinner, have always been a core part of the FPCOS program. Ensuring that our families end their days with a warm meal and an opportunity for fellowship is an important part of the FPCOS story. Over the next six months, we need volunteers for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to provide meals, an opportunity for fellowship, and encouragement for our families.

What am I signing up for?

·       A meal for 7-15 people. We will provide you with exact numbers and any food allergies the week before your shift. We encourage you to engage your volunteers to grocery shop and help prepare the meals. When you sign up, you take responsibility for dinner that day.

Where do I sign up?

·       Please visit the Signup Genius (click link) to see available dates and claim your congregation’s spots

What will meals look like?

·       Each meal will have a green, a protein, and a side. We have shopping lists and recipes if you would like some inspiration. You can deliver the meal to the Day House or arrive early to prepare the meal in the Day House kitchen. Meals should be ready by 6:00 p.m. You are welcome to stay and share the meal with the families (of course, you’ll need to adjust the size of the meal accordingly if you choose to stay).

How will I receive updates?

·       A FPCOS staff member will reach out to you to confirm details and ensure that you have all pertinent information (dates, addresses, number of people, any allergies, etc). We also will ask what meal you plan to cook so we ensure we aren’t repeating meals.

Care Packages – Help Families in Need Today

Families experiencing a financial crisis and struggling to meet their housing obligations don't always have the ability to buy staples for their homes. These are things that most of us take for granted. Join us by hosting a Care Package party. You can gather friends, congregations, or neighbors for fellowship and service.

Here's how it works. Ask your group to purchase the items in the Care Packages. Gather and assemble one of each of the items into reusable bags (like grocery bags). Contact FPCOS to arrange drop-off or for us to come and pick them up. Family Promise of Colorado Springs will distribute the packages to the families that apply for our Prevention Program. You will make an immediate, meaningful impact on each family that receives one of your Care Packages.

FPCOS is pleased to announce that we have hired Andrew Gregerson to join our team as Office Administrator. He will start on January 22, 2025.

Andrew has worked as the Accounting and Administration Manager for J&J Worldwide Services, a defense contractor, for the past 14 years. In this role, he oversaw the financial and operational management of the Pacific Region, personnel and HR functions, and AR and budget management. Andrew has a long track record of excellence in his role, and we are very excited to have him join our team.  Andrew will report to Tim Close, Interim Executive Director.

For most of us, each year starts with hope and promise. Maybe this year will bring new opportunities, a chance to start fresh, or even to take that amazing step that moves our lives into a whole new reality. Here at Family Promise, we extend our heartfelt wishes that 2025 is a year of prosperity, bounty, and lasting memories of hopes and dreams realized.

We start this year with some exciting news at Family Promise of Colorado Springs and encourage you to join us in any way you can. We will have new events, programs, and ways to engage the community.

We truly appreciate your support in helping families to stay together as they face housing crises.
